Will the Minister ofCOMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGYbe pleased to state:-


(a) whether the Government has conducted any survey to find out vacant land under the Department of Posts;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the total area of such land, State/UT-wise including Andhra Pradesh;

(c) whether the Government has any proposal for the proper utilisation of these vacant lands;

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(e) the further steps taken by the Government in this regard?

THE MINISTER OF COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & LAW AND JUSTICE (SHRI RAVI SHANKAR PRASAD)

(a) No, Madam.

(b) Not applicable in view of (a) above. However, the details of vacant lands available with Department of Posts alongwith the total area of such land, State/UT-wise including Andhra Pradesh are enclosed as per Annexure.

(c) to (e) Yes, Madam. Government constructs Departmental buildings for Post Offices/Administrative Offices and Staff Quarters on vacant land as an ongoing activity based on existing policy subject to the availability of funds under Plan Heads as provided by Planning Commission. During the 12th Five Year Plan, Government has approved construction of 75 number of post office buildings, 10 staff quarter projects and 4 administrative buildings projects.
