We are proudly announced, Gramin Dak Sevaks are main source of Income to the Department
of posts. Gramin Dak Sevaks procured 1,46,64,650 Rural Postal Life Insurance
Active policies through Branch Post offices. 76,000 Crores of rupees are earned through this scheme by Gramin Dak Sevaks.
Government of India enacted Mahatma Gandhi National Rural
employment Guarentee Act (MGNREGA) in September 2005. The scheme came into
effect in all districts in the country from 1st April 2008. The
scheme is operational through 96, 375 Branch Post offices. During the period
from April 2013 to February 2014, 63 crores 90 lakhs MGNREGA a/c (nearly 64 crore a/c) were
opened and an amount of 14,400 crores was disbursed.
